What private consultants charge for
Udyam-Registration.com is a private consultancy, not a government website. We charge a service fee (currently ₹960) for assisted registration, edits and certificate printing. That fee pays for our time: preparing your details, choosing NIC codes, filing on the portal, fixing errors and supporting you afterwards. None of it is a government charge, and none of it is passed to the government.
Any honest consultant should tell you the same thing up front. If a website suggests the government itself requires a fee, it is misleading you.
When doing it yourself makes sense
- You are a proprietor or a simple partnership with one location.
- The name on your Aadhaar and PAN match exactly.
- Your PAN and GSTIN are linked and active, or you are not required to have GST.
- You know what your business does and can pick a NIC code with our free NIC code finder.
When paid help can be worth it
- The portal keeps rejecting your details, for example a PAN and Aadhaar name mismatch or a PAN-GST link error.
- You have several plants or units, or several activities to classify.
- You are moving from an old Udyog Aadhaar and the details no longer match (see the migration guide).
- You need a correction made quickly for a tender, loan or payment claim.
- You simply do not have the time, and value having someone accountable for getting it right.
How to spot a misleading Udyam website
- It looks like a government site but does not end in .gov.in, and does not say clearly that it is private.
- It calls its fee a "government fee" or "registration charge".
- It asks for an annual renewal fee. Udyam registration never expires (see validity and renewal).
- It asks for documents to be uploaded as a condition of registration. The government portal does not need any.
- It has no refund policy, no company name and no contact details.

What else might cost money after registration
Registration itself is free, but some things around it are not: a CA certificate a bank asks for, GST registration fees charged by a consultant, or trademark and patent filing fees (which are discounted for MSMEs).
