How to download your Udyam certificate online
The certificate is issued by the Government's MSME portal, and a fresh PDF copy can be pulled any time after the registration is verified. The form above handles this for you, but it helps to know what each step does.
- Enter your Udyam Number. This is the 19-character registration number in the format UDYAM-XX-00-0000000. It appears on your original certificate and in the confirmation message sent when you first registered.
- Verify with OTP. A one-time password goes to the mobile number linked to the registration. This confirms you are authorised to access the certificate.
- Receive the PDF. Once verified, the certificate is retrieved from the official portal and sent to your inbox, usually within a few hours.
You can also do this yourself at udyamregistration.gov.in using the “Print / Verify” option and the same OTP. Either way, there is no charge from the Government for the download itself.
How to reprint a lost Udyam certificate
Misplacing the PDF is not a problem. Nothing is cancelled or reissued, and there is no limit on how many times the certificate can be downloaded. As long as you have the Udyam Number and access to the registered mobile, you can pull a fresh copy whenever you need one.

Can you download the certificate with just your mobile number?
Not on its own. The portal’s print option asks for your Udyam Registration Number along with the mobile number entered in your application, and the OTP goes to that mobile or to the email you registered. The mobile number by itself won’t bring up the certificate.
It still gets you most of the way there. If you have the registered mobile or email but not the number, the “Forgot Udyam / UAM No.” option on the portal sends an OTP to either one and returns your Udyam Number. One thing that catches people out: the OTP goes to the mobile number in your Udyam application, which isn’t always the one linked to your Aadhaar. If you no longer use the number on your Udyam record, pick the email OTP option, or update the number through the Edit Udyam certificate process. What the Udyam certificate contains
The certificate is a single-page document that doubles as official proof of MSME status. It carries:
- The Udyam Registration Number (URN) and registration date
- Enterprise name and type of organisation
- Major activity (manufacturing or services) and the NIC codes declared
- Official address and the location of plant or units
- Classification as Micro, Small, or Medium for the current year
- A dynamic QR code that links to the live registration record

Udyam certificate download by Aadhaar number
Many people look for a way to download the certificate with only their Aadhaar number. The portal does not open a certificate from the Aadhaar number alone. It asks for the Udyam Registration Number and then sends an OTP to the mobile or email given in the application.
Your Aadhaar still helps. The registration was made with the owner’s Aadhaar, so the OTP goes to the mobile number that was entered with it. If you know whose Aadhaar was used, you know which phone will receive the OTP. If the Udyam Number itself is missing, recover it first on the Forgot Udyam Number page.
Udyam certificate download PDF: what you receive
The certificate is a PDF generated by the government portal. It shows the Udyam Registration Number, the enterprise name, the type (Micro, Small or Medium), the registered address, the date of registration and a QR code that anyone can scan to confirm it is genuine. There is also an annexure that lists the NIC activity codes, bank details and unit addresses.
Banks and tender portals usually ask for this PDF as it is. A photo or a retyped copy is often rejected, so keep the original file.
MSME certificate download: is it a different certificate?
No. The MSME certificate and the Udyam certificate are the same document. Since July 2020 the Udyam Registration certificate is the only MSME certificate issued, so an “MSME certificate download” is done in exactly the same way, with the Udyam Number and an OTP.
Common download errors and how to fix them
The OTP is not arriving
The OTP only goes to the mobile number or email entered in your Udyam application. If the mobile has changed, choose the email OTP option instead. With access to either one, you can update the other through the Edit Udyam certificate process. If you have lost access to both, the change has to go through your District Industries Centre (DIC) or a request on the MSME Samadhaan portal.
“Invalid Udyam Number”
Check the format carefully — it is UDYAM, followed by a two-letter state code, two digits, and a seven-digit number. A common slip is confusing the letter O with the digit 0.
You have a Udyog Aadhaar, not a Udyam Number
Udyog Aadhaar was the older system and cannot be used to download the new certificate. You will need to register fresh under Udyam. Our Udyog Aadhaar to Udyam migration guide explains the process.
Details on the certificate are wrong
